Ginny Gray is a professional addiction and trauma specialist. Her training, support and guidance helps individuals and families navigate the specific and unique challenges these debilitating issues have on lives. Her own personal experience as well as extensive training in addiction, as a certified recovery coach and a Certified EMDR Therapist, has helped countless numbers of families reunite, and rebuild their lives returning them to the paths they were intended to live. Ginny has worked extensively with families helping them assess the level of care most appropriate when a loved one is in the throes of addiction. Her vast network and training help steer individuals and families in the right direction for the best care, whether it be individual counseling, intensive out-patient care, or inpatient rehabilitation. In addition, Ginny helps families rebuild their lives when anxiety and depression have a stronghold on them or when separation, divorce, or other tragedies have had a debilitating effect on their lives. She takes a deeply personalized approach to counseling and her individual treatment plans allow for her to walk side by side with her clients as they recover, grow, heal, and live again.
Ginny grew up in New York City, attended Phillips Academy (Andover), Hollins College, and earned her Masters at NYU. She worked at Family Centers and interned at Arms Acres, providing substance abuse prevention and counseling for children in residential foster care. Her experience with individuals and group counseling is extensive, and since 2008, she has been working in Stamford and Greenwich providing counseling to children, adolescents, and families. She uses evidence-based treatment practices, including treatment for PTSD, which is EMDR, proven to be profoundly efficient, comprehensive, and effective in treating trauma and unbelievably effective in treating other mental health challenges. She also employs the best of a 12-Step approach, is certified in SMART Recovery, trained in DBT skills, and motivational interviewing to treat addiction. She has proven curriculums for children in therapeutic groups when exposed to divorce and addiction and trauma. She draws from her own personal experience and education to provide the most individualized care for each client and family.
Ginny has gone through extensive training with EMDR, which is one of the most highly regarded evidence-based treatments for trauma and other mental health issues. It allows individuals to process trauma in the most comprehensive and expedient way and allows for healing when used to treat, intense anxiety, emotional deregulation, depression, and has been an incredibly effective modality to assist in treating addiction. It is the chosen evidence-based and proven protocol for working with PTSD.
Ginny is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Connecticut, a Licensed Masters of Social Work in the State of New York, a Certified Recovery Coach, has advanced training as a Certified EFT Therapist. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and also works with the Lower Fairfield County Regional Action Committee to effectively treat and prevent addition.
